EDUCATİON WİTHOUT SCHOOL A CASE STUDY OF TURKEYABSTRACTSchool is the most important ideological state apparatus, due families voluntarily bringing their children to be looked after there. Consequently, children spend significant amount of time at school.School education is maintained in a building, and coeval children are placed together to be educated through specific curriculums. Moreover, students are positioned as passive listeners, who are taught these curriculums at school in Turkey. To receive a diploma at the end of education process remains as a strategy to move into an upper class. As a result of this, seeing their children to be granted a diploma is very important for lower-class families. As a matter of fact that, education process is offered by sovereign ideology and naturalized during the education years. This situation appears as a critical subject for some families. Over the course of years, there has been critical point of views, regarding the issue of school causing talents of children to be vanished. In addition to this, it is claimed that the necessary conditions for supporting young generations to become independent and critical thinkers are not provided in school. Even though every child is unique and differs from the others through their personalities, skills and interests, they all are expected to succeed in the same fields. As a consequence, children who fall behind in some subjects are labelled as loser or lazy.Parents who criticize school and education, defend a society without school and improve their own solutions to achieve it. Education without schools as a teaching method has been discussed and applied during the past half-century. This is also on the agenda of a group of parents in our country. In the scope of this research, eleven families who apply the prementioned education model are met, and in-dept interviews are conducted with these families. Furthermore, advantages and disadvantages of the education without schools model, government's position against the method and the future plans are discussed. Accordingly, the experience of families that apply this model and their practices are studied. The most common criticism against these families is the issue of children not being able to socialize. However, the current research presents that children do not experience the problem of socialization. What's more, they seem to be more social and self-confident comparing to children who attend to school classes. Children who are in the system of education without school, do not lose their inner motivation. Thus, they obtain information by following their curiosity. Not as a result of obligations, but to meet their own needs in life. Therefore, they know from the heart and experience that in where and for what the information is going to be used, because to learn means to live.
