Prof. Dr. Şeref KALAYCIThe basic aim of this thesis is to evaluate the performances of the A typemutual funds in Turkey. For this purpose, firstly detailed theoretical information which is related tomutual funds in Turkey has been revealed and generally accepted performanceevaluation technics have been explained. After that, to evaluate the performance of Atype mutual funds as a basic purpose, it has been analysed the data of these funds bySharpe method including 36 months of period between January 1998-December2000.Comparing to the market portfolio of the related period, it seems that A typemutual funds don?t have superior performance. At the same time, the risks of thesefunds are found generally high.None of the five kinds of A type mutual funds which are named as Flexiblefunds, mixed funds, stock funds, participation funds and special funds haveperformed beter than market index. It can be said that portfolio management of the A type mutual funds for therelated period is not efficient. Because the funds have performed lower comparing tothe market in this period. Finally, to be more desirable, A type mutual funds should be managed moreprofessionally and efficently.Key Words: A Type Mutual Funds, Institutional Investors, , Sharpe Ratio,Performance evaluation.

ÖZETTÜRK YE'DE A T P YATIRIM FONLARI VE PERFORMANSDEĞERLEND R LMES (1998 -2000)Pınar YALÇINKAYASüleyman Demirel Üniversitesi, şletme BölümüYüksek Lisans Tezi, 98 sayfa, Haziran 2006Danışman: Doç. Dr. Şeref KALAYCIBu tezin amacı, Türkiye'de A tipi yatırım fonlarının performanslarınıdeğerlendirmektir. A tipi yatırım fonları ilgili dönemde piyasa portföyüne göre iyi birperformansa sahip değildir. Anahtar Kelimeler: A Tipi Yatırım Fonları, Kurumsal Yatırımcılar, SharpeRasyosu, Performans Değerlendirme.
