The aim of this thesis is to decipher the perception of `ideal body` created by intervening in the bodies of `male and female` individuals in line with changing consumption styles, fashion, advertisements and production styles. In accordance with this purpose, in addition to the discipline of economics, consumption, fashion, media and other social sciences were utilized. The whole analysis was carried out by periodizing from a historical point of view. As a social entity, the individual has made consumption in line with his needs and changed his consumption preferences with the effects of economic structures in historical and social processes. In this process, consumption and production relations and capital accumulation processes have also developed in certain directions and directly transformed consumption preferences. After the modern period, consumption preferences changed significantly and the body became an object of consumption due to the effects of sectors such as fashion and media. The discourses of fashion and the media - especially with the emphasis on slimness in recent years - have a significant impact on young age groups. The same slimness and slimming action constitutes a significant accumulation as the reproduction area of the fashion and aesthetic industry. Many slimming centers and aesthetic centers were started to operate and new slimming products have been launched in Turkey. Slimming-oriented platforms and people with a history of slimming have become important follow-up areas on social media. At this point, our study focused on the perception of slimness, the experience of slimming and the economic dynamics behind it, making it the object of examining a society in which capitalism centered consumption to realize reproduction and accumulation of capital. Within this society, the body has become the most beautiful and valuable consuming object which is consumed.
