In this study, the relationship between visitor's feelings and behaviours is investigated by fulfilling visitors' satisfaction in museums, which are important parts of today's cultural life. The research is done in context of the 'atmosphere' concept, which is important due to its specialities on influencing consumer's feelings and behaviours in marketing sector. This research's scope is limited to children and toys museums. The research study is mainly done in Istanbul Toy Museum, which has a very important place among the museums, due to the fact that it is the first 'private' toy museum in Turkey, with a rich collection, high recognition, is pioneering and consulting newly established game and toy museums and providing support for design and collections. Additionally, other game and toy museums in Turkey are also included in the research for supporting this study. In this research, a new concept is presented with the term 'museum atmosphere' in the field of museology. In this concept, data collected by quantitative method is analysed and hypotheses related to the subject are tested among the variables. All of the factors found as a result of the analysis of the research data: museum's external appearance, interior decoration, area design, sensory and human factors describe the atmosphere of a museum. The five atmospheric factors found in the literature search are similar to those in this study. In the study, the 'museum atmosphere effect' and the 'reaction to the museum atmosphere' are evaluated together by determining the intention of visitor's behaviour. The main purpose of this work is to reveal the effect of museum atmosphere variables and the museum atmosphere in the children and toy museum on the visitors. For this purpose, the primary data obtained from 625 visitors visiting İstanbul Toy Museum and other games and toy museums in Turkey were analysed statistically within the conceptual framework. The results of the research show that the atmosphere of the museum is an important factor for the visitors and that there are significant correlations between the museum atmosphere factors and the visitors' tendency to visit the museum again and to recommend the museum to others. The first part of the study gives information on museology's general definition, museum definitions, marketing approaches and contemporary museology. In the second chapter; the museums with respect to attract the visitors' attention, the factors related to the museum atmosphere created with the aim to provide a different aspect are evaluated. In the third chapter; the children's and toy museums that constitute the thesis' research area are examined, general information is given and the importance of creating the atmosphere for accustoming the visitors to the museums is emphasized. Keywords: Museology, Marketing, Museum Atmosphere, Game and Toy Museum, Istanbul Toy Museum.
