Purpose Aim: Convulsions are the most common neurological disorder in the childhood. The mortality and morbidity rates that can occur in these patients as well as the economic burdens of treatment are important for society. As a result of the analysis of the data obtained in this study, it was aimed to decrease the frequency of seizures, decrease the attack rates in epileptic patients and provide primary protection and contribute to the literature.Materials and methods: Children (0-18 aged) applied to the Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University Medical Faculty Hospital outpatient clinic and emergency service with a history of seizure and had seizures while in the inpatient of the same clinic between January 2012 and June 2016 were included to the study. Demographic variables and information about seizures of patients were scanned retrospectively from the hospital's automation systems. Daily average minimum and maximum atmospheric pressure and temperature values, humidity, wind speed and direction were obtained from the General Directorate of Meteorology. It was investigated whether these meteorological changes were an effect on the seizures. Results: A significant but inverse relationship was found between the mean moisture concentration and seizure formation when the relationship between the days of seizures during seizures of the patients included in the study and the meteorological characteristics between seizure days are examined, According to this, the mean level of humidity on the days of seizure is significantly lower than the days without seizure. When seizure is evaluated separately by temperature, pressure and wind speed, meaningful relationship is lost. Conclusion: In our study, the average humidity concentration on days with seizures is significantly lower than in days without seizures. We are thinking that wider prospective studies examining the effects of air events on childhood seizures would be useful in determining the etiology and triggering factors of childhood seizures.
