The presence of Sheikh Ahmad Senussi in the Turkish National Struggle is interesting and important in that he is a North African cleric. To date, studies on Sheikh Senussi have been developed mostly on the axis of the Senusiyya Sect and the Tripoli War. Studies related Senussi's days spent in Turkey and its role in the National Struggle has been limited to insufficient or particular issues. In addition, There are false and conflicting information that his arrival in Istanbul, participation in the National Struggle, the reaction to the abolition of the caliphate and sultanate and his departure from Turkey. Therefore, the aim of this study is to reveal clearly the role of Sheikh Senussi in the National Struggle on the basis of first hand sources and to eliminate the conflicts and contradictions on this issue.Sheikh Ahmad Senussi did not come to Istanbul with the expectation of an authority such as caliphate or shaykh al-Islam. He came to Istanbul only to establish the Islamic union upon the invitation of the caliph. Imperial states perceived Sheikh Senus as a serious danger and put pressure on the government of the Ottoman Empire and then the Turkish Grand National Assembly to prevent him from returning to his country therefore, he was not allowed to return to his country for years. During that compulsory residence in Turkey he believed that the National Struggle would be the salvation of the Islamic world and joined the National Struggle of his voluntarily. He traveled to the southern and eastern provinces of Anatolia with his duties as the general preacher of Anatolia and proxy of candidate of the King of Iraq. In these travels; he stated that the National Struggle was religiously legitimate, he was right in the case of the Ankara Government, that Mustafa Kemal was the only hope of Islam and that jihad was the right for the struggle for independence. He preached in mosques, sermons willed, prepared declarations and distributed to the public and sent letters to prominent people. In this way he tried to persuade both the people and the tribal leaders in the region to support the National Struggle. Thus, Sheikh Ahmad Senussi was one of the key clergy who played a key role in the success of the National Struggle by her activities in Anatolia, especially the participation of Kurdish tribes in the Eastern regions, or at least their inaction.Sheikh Ahmad Senussi never doubted the correctness of Mustafa Kemal's decisions. He even supported the decisions to abolish the sultanate and the caliphate without hesitation. Allegations that he be deported from Turkey does not reflect reality. Sheikh Senussi is voluntarily left Turkey on October 23, 1924.Keywords: Sheikh Senussi, Turkish National Struggle, Religious comissary, Islamic union, Anti-imperialism.

Böylece Şeyh Ahmed Senusi, Anadolu'daki faaliyetleriyle, özellikle Doğu bölgelerindeki Kürt aşiretlerinin Millî Mücadele'ye katılımını sağlayarak Millî Mücadele'nin başarıya ulaşmasında önemli rolü olan din adamlarından biri olmuştur.Şeyh Ahmed Senusi, Mustafa Kemal'in kararlarının doğruluğundan hiçbir zaman şüphe duymamıştır. Saltanat ve hilafetin kaldırılması kararlarını dahi tereddüt etmeden desteklemiştir. Türkiye'den sınır dışı edildiği yönündeki iddia gerçeği yansıtmamaktadır. Şeyh Senusi kendi isteğiyle 23 Ekim 1924 tarihinde Türkiye'den ayrılmıştır.Anahtar Kelimeler: Şeyh Senusi, Millî Mücadele, Din adamları, İslam birliği, Anti-emperyalizm.
