Globalization, innovative technologies, life cycles which grow shorterand shorter, emergent competitors and increased customer?s needs make today?sbusiness world very complex. Today?s customers which are more conscious wantto buy the products that are more qualified and more functional cheaper than theyare. Companies have to design and manufacture their products according tocustomer?s voice now .Companies under the pressure of global competition change theirmanufacturing systems by using modern technologies. After changing theirmanufacturing systems it is needed to change current cost systems naturally.Today?s competitive conditions, traditional cost systems are growing inadequatesuch as standart cost system. Life Cycle Costing System which is the subject of thisthesis is one of developed modern cost management systems under intensivecompetitive conditions.Life Cycle Costing System consists of two subsystems which are TargetCosting and Kaizen Costing. The desired contribution of Life Cycle CostingSystem is to realize optimum cost reduction. For this purpose, Target CostingSystem that is the first stage of Life Cycle Costing is applied on the product torealize cost reduction at the phase of design and development. At themanufacturing phase that is the next phase, Kaizen Costing System becomes a partof the activity and the cost reduction efforts are being continued. Life CycleCosting System is not only a cost management system at the same time it is animportant part of firm?s profit planning system.As for practice, it is applied at an automobile firm because Life CycleCosting System is used intensively at the assembly sector. Bu tezin konusu olan Yaşam Seyri MaliyetlemeSistemi de şiddetli rekabet koşullarında geliştirilmiş modern maliyet yönetimsistemlerinden birisidir.Yaşam Seyri Maliyetleme Sistemi, Hedef maliyetleme ve Kaizenmaliyetleme olmak üzere iki alt sistemden oluşmaktadır. Yaşam Seyri MaliyetlemeSisteminden beklenen katkı, optimum maliyet azaltımını gerçekleştirmektir. Buamaçla sistemin ilk ayağı olan Hedef maliyetleme sistemi, mamule tasarım vegeliştirme aşamasında uygulanmakta böylece yaşam seyrinin daha ilk safhasındamaliyet azaltımı hedeflenmektedir. Sonraki aşama olan üretim aşamasında damaliyet azaltım çalışmaları devam ettirilmekte bu safhada da kaizen maliyetlemesistemi devreye sokulmaktadır. Yaşam Seyri Maliyetleme Sistemi sadece bir maliyetyönetim sistemi olmayıp aynı zamanda da işletmenin kar planlama sisteminin önemlibir parçası olmaktadır.Yaşam Seyri Maliyetleme Sistemi yoğunlukla montaj endüstrisindekullanıldığından tezin uygulaması da bir otomobil işletmesinde yapılmıştır.Uygulama için Sakarya'da tesisi bulunan Toyota Motor Manufacturing Turkeyseçilmiştir.
