The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of acute dietary nitrate (red beetroot juice) supplementation on MaxVO2 capacity, fatigue and recovery levels in elite male boxers.Method: Eight male boxers who actively engaged in the boxing branch participated as volunteers in the age range of 23 ± 2.28 years, 174.83 ± 11 cm in height average and 76.66 ± 19.37 kg in body weight. In the study, subjects were given acute dietary nitrate (kg/ ml, 2ml) or placebo by single blind cross-over method. Following the supplementation subjects were applied 20-m shuttle run test for determining the subjects' MaxVO2 capacity. After 5 days, the same test was repeated by replacing the first item taken (dietary nitrate or placebo). Fatigue and recovery performance before and after the test was determined by measuring heart rate and lactate levels. SPSS 22.0 package program was used to analyze the data. In the comparison of pretest and posttest values of subjects, two related samples from nonparametric tests Wilcoxon T test and Repeated Measures test for repeated measurements were performed. The significance level was evaluated as p <0.05. Result: When the findings obtained in the study are examined; There was no significant difference in fatigue and recovery levels, but it was determined that there was a significant (p˂0,05) increase in the level of N MaxVo2 (Nitrate- suplementated MaxVo2 measurement). Conclusion; there is no effect on the fatigue and recovery levels of acute dietary nitrate supplementation made in elite boxers but the suplementated nitrate was caused an significant (p˂0,05) increase in the MaxVo2 levels so it is suggested that nitrate can be used for the applications improving oxygen utilization capacity, at least based on the presented study.
