Özet

The subject of different emotion styles has been a well-observed topic by many researchers throughout recent years and the effects that these styles have on health can clearly be seen. This study will explain the co-relation of these two topics to attachment styles. This study aims to observe the role of attachment styles in the emotion styles and emotional intelligence predictors of university students. It also aims to understand whether different socio-demographic variables (such as gender, academic achievements, and parent's educational background), effect the emotional styles, emotional intelligence, and attachment styles of these students. This study is a part of the relational screening model and has been carried out with a workgroup of a total of 271 students (158 female and 113 male) at a university in Istanbul, in the Marmara region, during the 2015-1026 academic year. The data collection tools used in this study were the Trait Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire-Short Form (TEIQue-SF), the Emotion Style Questionnaire, the Relationship Scales Questionnaire, and a Personal Information Form, prepared by the researchers. The Pearson Correlation, Regression, T-Test, and Variance Analysis were then used to analyse the data accumulated from the study. With the regression analysis made, the discovery that the students' attachment styles were a significant predictor of their emotional styles and emotional intelligence was reached.Key words: Emotion, Affective Style, Emotional Intelligence, Attachment Styles.
