In this dissertation, we have tried to analyse The Light and the Dark, The New Men and Corridors of Power by Charles Percy Snow, one of the twentieth century English novelists, in the light of Marxist literary theory. The study is divided into three main chapters. In Chapter One, the developmental process of Marxist literary theory from Marx and Engels to Terry Eagleton, has been studied in a wide range. In Chapter Two, Charles Percy Snow's literary career and his political view are handled. The social, political and economic events that influenced England in the twentieth century and formed the backbone of his novels are focused on. As a novelist, Snow's technical and thematic aspects are given. From the theory of reflection in Marxist literary criticism it is determined that there are many parallelisms between fictional world and factual one in respect to both characters and events. In Chapter Three, The Light and the Dark, The New Men and Corridors of Power are investigated in the light of Marxist Literary Theory. The social criticism of Snow is presented through his novels under consideration. The social control mechanisms in the novels are handled. How these novels challenge the Western capitalist system and how they also serve to create a kind of awareness in readers about social, economic and political practices to control the members of the society are questioned. Keywords: Charles Percy Snow, The Light and the Dark, The New Men,Corridors of Power, Marxist literary criticism.
