The main objective in this study is to investigate the physical comfort measurements of all shared circulation spaces (the circulation and communual area from the entrance to the cinema floor including the car park) in a shopping mall which is a public space having broad program in accordance with universal design principles. Within this study, determining the correspondance of the comfort measurements of the targeted broad programmmed shopping center's to the universal design principles and the conditions creating and affecting the physical comfort awareness are aimed at. The study includes a detailed investigation of the due physical comfort measurements of the mentioned spaces in the targeted shopping mall in accordance with the universal design principles and thereby getting some detections. It is thought that this study will, in architectal terms, give some ideas to the architects ,interior architects and landscape architects on the design of shopping malls at very crucial points by raising awareness in the thought of the universal design principles. In addition, it is thought that shopping mall operators should design their buildings and services in accordance with the universal design principles. It is envisaged, in practice, that this study will be a source to the future academic studies. In a shopping center with a broad program some field studies such as survey application, photography and video shooting, on side monitoring and examination, practical experience through emphaty (pretending someone disabled) have been carried out. The field studies on that method were carried out at different times on several days. The physical comfort criterias in a shared circulation spaces of a shopping mall were investigated with the standards and guidelines and each of these spaces were meticulously evaluated as subheadings in accordance with every principle of the universal design and comfort concept. Summary tables showing the universal design principles and the relevance of the physical comfort measurements to these universal design principles in studied spaces of the shopping mall, determinations obtained on experimentation are also shown by photos and drawings. And the studied shopping center has in general been concluded to have the necessary standards of the universal design concept. The shopping mall was in general evaluated as a positive shopping mall ,that's to say, being human focused heeding the comfort of the users, making the actions and movements of the users easier. However, it has been observed that precautions for blind are not adequate at the shopping center. It was determinated that some precautions are taken by some applications but these precautions are insufficient or incorrect. By evaluating survey data on studied fiels , Spss program and statistical data analysis have been hold and the survey results obtained are shown at the tables. As a result of the survey, the satisfaction and thoughts of the users about the shopping mall have been determined. The factors affecting the physical comfort awareness at the studied shopping mall having broad program have been explained by tables and improved statistical analysis. As a result of these analysis, the four dimensions affecting the physical comfort awareness (interior perception, lightning types, noise-sound, ventilation, smell and circulation) have been aroused.
