Özet

In recent years, the use of drugs has increased among children and young adults. The causal comperative research model was used in this study to determine the risk factors for drug use behavior of children and young adults and the protective factors that have potential to buffer or to prevent problem behavior. The students who have been enrolling to the state high school (n=106) and private universities (n=206) in Istanbul were used as the control group. Children and young adults who have been participating juvenile program in probation system (n=121) and juveniles who have been adjudicating (n=134) in İstanbul were selected as the research group. Logistic regression analysis was conducted to determine the causes of drug use. As result of the analysis, gender, school abandonment, having drug abusers or delinquent friends, the absence of appropriate behaviors that could be modeling, the prevalence of violence in the living environment, the presence of problem behaviors among friends, and the regular use of cigarettes were found as major predictors of drug use.

Tüm örneklem grubu dâhil edilerek gerçekleştirilen analiz sonucunda cinsiyet, okulu terk etme, uyuşturucu madde kullanan veya suça sürüklenen arkadaşların bulunması; arkadaşların uygun davranışlara sahip olmaması, yaşadığı çevrede şiddetin yaygın olması, problem davranış sergileyen arkadaşların varlığı ve düzenli sigara içmenin uyuşturucu madde kullanımı üzerinde yordayıcı gücü olduğutespit edilmiştir.
