The aim of this study is to determine the reasons of academicians' not being members of trade unions. The reasons of non-member academicians have been examined by taking into account variables such as gender, age, educational status, title and term of employment. The data required for the study has been obtained through literature review and conducting a survey. SPSS (22.0) statistical package program has been used to analyze the data obtained from the survey. While analyzing the data, firstly frequency (f), percentage (%), mean (X̄) and standard deviation (SS) values have been determined. Sub-factors have been formed by grouping the items according to the result obtained within the scope of factor analysis applied. In accordance with the obtained factors, independent sample t test has been used to measure the difference between two categories of independent variables (gender), and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) has been used to test the difference between variables with more than two categories. In the factor analysis, the KMO value has been found as 0.908 and the established model has been confirmed to be statistically significant (p <0.05).As a result of the reliability analysis, it has determined that all the factors have been arranged properly. As a result of the factor analysis, the items in the survey have been grouped as 4 factors such as Political Anxiety, Functioning Problems, Acting out of Purpose and Deficiency of Advocacy. When the responses of the academicians to the items collected under these 4 groups have been examined by taking into account the variables of gender, age, educational status, title and term of employment, it has been found that there have been statistically significant differences in most of them.
