The humankind needs energy during his life. The demand on energy sources in the process from daily consumption to the production increases rapidly. The way of meeting this demand by using fossil fuels is expected to slowdown starting from 2050. Also the effects of fossil fuels on climate change can easily be seen now. The demand on new energy sources is increasing by the day and a lot of countries and the world public opinion give much importance to the hydrogen alternative. The most important characteristic of the hydrogen is that it is a sustainable energy source and it does not cause any harm on the environment. The developed countries use almost all fossil sources in order to sustain their development and also use the environment- friendly sources of energy at high capacity. Especially, Iceland has programmed its energy systems focusing on the hydrogen since 2030 and made legal hydrogen-focused regulations. In the study, it has been determined that the growth in the econometric application made between energy consumption and the growth rates of Iceland which is preparing to use the hydrogen energy systems has been the cause of increase in the energy consumption. But in Turkey, such a result has not been reached yet. The most important reason of this result is the low level of electricity consumption per capita in Turkey.Consequently, Turkey has to invest on advanced technology that is necessary for a transition into the hydrogen energy systems. The cheapest way of producing hydrogen is the solar and geothermal energy. The fact that these sources are abundant in Turkey is seen as an important advantage for a transition into hydrogen and for decreasing the costs of domestic and industrial usages of hydrogen. As a result of the study, the transition into new energies such as hydrogen is expected to occur before 2030 due to the development in energy technologies and the unexpected increases of the energy demand in China and India.
