This study is written to argue the reflections of a new phase; postmodernsituation, emerged after the second half of the twentieth century as a result of largescale transformations in social, economic and cultural fragments. First, differentapproaches of philosophers, sociologists, artists and critics about postmodernsituation about which there is still an ongoing debate, emerged as a reactionagainst modernity and defined as postmodernity in the politic and economic arenasand as postmodernism in cultural and artistic realm, had been analyzed. Then, thereactions against the modern psyche which might encompass the postmodernsituation to emerge in the specific conditions of Turkey and the projects which hasbeen created through that psyche had been discussed. Finally, by tracking theproperties of postmodern art, those plays which are assumed to exhibit apostmodern tendency in Turkish playwriting course had been read by apostmodernist method. The fundamental aim of this thesis is to make an emphasison the necessity and even inevitability of postmodernist reading with theemergence of inefficiencies of modernist reasoning genres against recently emergedphenomena in life and to give ideas through sample readings.
