Özet

The purpose of this study is to deal with the problem of meaning in history in the context of the metaphysics of history, which is a branch of philosophy of history. In line with this purpose, two types of philosophy of history were introduced in the first chapter, it was demonstrated that these two types evolved in parallel with the meanings ascribed to the term 'history', and the area of problem of the metaphysics of history was described. In the second chapter, various aspects of the problem of meaning in philosophy and the problem of meaning from a religious point of view was studied in order to clarify in which context the problem of meaning is discussed in the metaphysics of history. In the third chapter, the problem of meaning in history was reviewed based on a model that was determined as `principles`, `course of history` and `goals`. By using the material provided in the conceptions of history of Vico, Kant, Hegel, Condorcet and Comte, it was shown on which basis the problem of meaning can be discussed and its place in the metaphysics of history was demonstrated.
