As a result of dramatically increasing electricity power need, traditional grid has been inadequate to manage the energy generation and distribution systems. Smart Grid is presented as an efficient and user-friendly solution for today's energy management and generation problem. However, Smart Grid (SG) introduces several privacy issues that do not exist in traditional grids. For example, with SG it is possible for attackers to obtain consumers' daily life patterns from their electric usage data. In this thesis, we tackle with this problem and propose a novel privacy-preserving data gathering protocol for SGs. The proposed protocol provides privacy with Temporal Perturbation (TP) and Shamir's Secret Sharing (SSS) Scheme techniques. In the proposed protocol, smart meters generate messages that contains electricity consumption information. Then, messages are delayed based on Laplace Distribution in order to generate TP and messages are divided into parts based on SSS scheme. Every part is sent to the Data Collection Center with different routing paths. The Proposed protocol is evaluated in terms of data and time privacy. A simulation environment that is appropriate for SG and is able to perform TP and SSS scheme is developed to evaluate the proposed protocol. With privacy analysis and simulation results, it is shown that the proposed protocol provides privacy preserving data gathering.

Akıllı sayaçlar (AS) elektrik tüketim değerlerini içeren mesajlar oluşturmaktadır.
