In Otorhinolaryngology (ORL) practice the most common operation is adenotonsillectomy, it is usually needed whether it has advantages or not. After this operation there has been reports of increased developments of growth in children, but stil inadequate research to proove to it. Our studies aim is in the patients who had adenotonsillectomy for several reasons-compare Insulin like growth factor 1(IGF-1), Insulin like growth factor binding protein 3 (IGFBP-3 ) and Growth Hormon (GH) levels which are sign of development and growth of children 6 month surgery and presurgical levels.This study includes 50 patients who was admitted to Dicle University (D.U.T.F) of Medicine ORL Clinic between January of 2006 and July of 2006, of which was diagnose with adenoid vegetation, chronic tonsillitis and hypertrophic tonsil.We gather all the patients history and record it, then we take blood samples for any detection of IGF-1, IGFBP-3 and GH levels we record their weight and height. After the operation 6 monts the patient was called back, and blood samples was taken again and their weight an height will be recorded again also. According to the weight end height, study group, compared with healthy no cronic illness, adenoids or tonsils diseased individuals, in this study group the weight was less, but there was no difference in height.In this study was some variables including sex- age- on post operative IGF- 1, IGFBP-3 and GH levels. Nearly for all variables, there is an increase in hormones levels post operative period compared with pre operative levels.

Kulak Burun Boğaz (K.B.B), pratiğinde en sık yapılan operasyon olan adenotonsillektominin, ameliyat sonrası kişide oluşturacağı olumlu ve olumsuz etkilerin iyi bir şekilde ortaya konması gereklidir. Söz konusu ameliyattan sonra çocuklarda büyüme ve gelişmenin hızlandığı pratikte çok iyi bilinmesine rağmen teorik olarak bu konuda yapılan çalışmalar az sayıdadır.Bu çalışmanın amacı değişik nedenlerle adenotonsillektomi yapılmış hastalarda, ameliyat sonrası 6 aylık süreçte, büyüme ve gelişmenin hormonal göstergesi olan IGF-1 (İnsülin like growth faktör 1), IGFBP-3 (İnsülin like growth faktör bağlayıcı protein 3) ve GH (Growth Hormon) değerlerini ameliyat öncesi değerler ile karşılaştırmaktır.Dicle Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi K.B.B. Kliniği'nde Ocak 2006- Temmuz 2006 tarihleri arasında adenoid vejetasyon, kronik tonsillit ve hipertrofik tonsil nedeni ile opere edilen 50 hasta çalışmaya alınmıştır.Tüm hastaların anamnez ve bulguları kaydedildikten sonra, ameliyat öncesi IGF-1, IGFBP-3 ve GH değerleri tayini için kan alındı, boy ve kiloları kaydedildi. Ameliyattan sonra 6 ay sonrasında hastalar kontrole çağrılarak tekrar IGF-1, IGFBP-3 ve GH değerleri tayini için kan alındı, boy ve kiloları ölçülerek kaydedildi. Boy ve kilo açısından çalışma grubu, benzer yaş grubundaki tonsil ve adenoid hastalığı ve kronik bir hastalığı olmayan sağlıklı bireylerle karşılaştırıldı.Çalışma grubunda kilolar daha düşük iken boy açısından fark yoktu. Çalışmada post op IGF-1, IGFBP-3 ve GH düzeylerinin cinsiyet, yaş, kilo, boy gibi değişkenin üzerindeki etkileri değerlendirildi. Hemen hemen tüm değişkenlerde ameliyat öncesine göre ameliyat sonrasında hormon seviyesinde artış tespit edildi.
