The process of preparing a design for the publication consists the pre-prees stage. The processof pre-prees has gained speed and quality within the developing of desktop publishing. Particularly, graphical softwere that are used in desktop publishing are necassary and a graphical designer solvesproblems by combining the softwares. The ones thar are used for a specific work which can biringthe text, the picture and the vectoral drawings together in one area. Designer must know these kindsof softwere and choose a purpose. The most common ones are vectoral and bitmap programmes. In the first chapter of the work, it was stated about bitmap and vectorial softwere which are usedin desktop publishing and also it was stated about the aim of work.In the second chapter, communication, graphical communication, visual desing and graphicaldesing were defined. And it was explained the consistence of the catalogue which is a designproduct. In the third chapter it was mentioned about the research method and the features of thecatalogue which would be designed. In this chapter, again it was started to make the catalogue, vectoral based softwere FreeHand and pixel based programme Photoshop were defined and eachpage of process was explained with pictures one by one.In the fourth chapter, at the end of the catalogue work, bitmap and vectoral based softwere werecompared and it was explained how to use these programmes. In the end, work was evaluated andthere were some suggestions.
