iSUPPLIER SELECTION AND PERFORMANCE EVALUATION IN JUS-IN-TIME PRODUCTION ENVIRONMENTABSTRACTMany manufacturers are dealing with the Just-in-Time (JIT) philosophy in order tobe more competitive in today?s global markets. The success of JIT on the productionflor has led many firms to consider JIT philosophy to the whole supply chain. Theprocurement of parts and materials is a very important issue in the successful andeffective implementation of JIT. So that, supplier selection has become more critical inJIT production environment. While selecting suppliers, buyer firms eliminate suppliers by considering their ownneeds. The supplier which is selected, is the supplier that can easily respond buyerfirm?s needs. In addition, in long term relationship, buyer firms must evaluate supplierperformance periodically to keep on the supplier productivity. In this research, supplier selection and supplier performance evaluation system ispresented. First of all, supplier selection and supplier performance evaluation criteriasare determined. Supplier selection criterias are determined by considering JIT supply. The proposed approach is not limited to considering JIT supply. It can helpmanufacturers to select the appropriate suppliers and evaluate supplier performance. Keywords: Just-in-Time Production, Just-in-Time Supply, Supplier Selection, SupplierPerformance Evaluation, Neural Network Technique.
