The porpose of this research is to ascertain the level of relationship between values education and justification. Among twelve value dilemma, three of them were choosen by the experts. With official authorization, in four different scholls, it was wanted from 381 students to write a composition about the justification of these dilemmas. Obtaining datas were searched by content analysis tecnique and findings were obtained and it was reached result, argument comment and suggestions by the help of these findings. According to research results, while %81, 6 percent of students were adopting the values, %10, 5 of them didn't adopt the values and the %4,5 of them adopted the opposite value. While the level of class, age, economical circumstance weren't affecting the adoption of values, the gender is effective. % 87, 2 percent of the girls and %76,2 percent of the boys adopted the values. The shapes of justification forms don't range to any variants. In content justifications, value adopters used reasoning and emotions leaning against justifications most. The ones who didn't adopt values and the ones who adopted the opposite value used the justification forms leaning against emotions and benefits. When it was searched the levels of justification, the ones who adopted the value had middle and low levels, the ones who didn't adopt the value had the lowest and the low level, the ones who adopted the opposite value had the lowest and the low level too. It was attracted attention that it wasn't noticed any highest justifications in the group out of value adopters. It was noticed that the students didn't understand what they read, they couldn't emphaty, they didn't have enough vocabulary and they couldn't figüre out coherent in reading passages. There were arguments and comments according to those result and some suggestions about education atmosphere and communual life were presented.

Bu araştırmanın amacı değerler eğitimi ile gerekçelendirme arasındaki ilişki düzeyini tespit etmektir. Bu amaçla oluşturulan 12 değer ikileminden 3 tanesi uzmanlar tarafından seçilmiştir. Resmi izinle 4 farklı okulda 381 öğrenciden bu ikilemlerle ilgili gerekçelerini içeren seçimlerini kompozisyon şeklinde yazmaları istenmiştir. Elde edilen veriler içerik analizi yöntemiyle incelenerek bulgulara ve bu bulgulardan sonuç, tartışma, yorum ve önerilere ulaşılmıştır. Araştırma sonuçlarına göre öğrencilerin % 81,6 'sı değerleri benimserken, % 10, 5' i değerleri benimsememiş, % 4,5' i ise beklenen değerin karşıtını savunmuştur. Sınıf seviyesi, yaş ve ekonomik durum değerleri benimseme konusunda etkili olmazken cinsiyetse etkili olmaktadır. Kızların %87, 2' si, erkeklerinse %76,2' si değerleri benimsemiştir. Gerekçelendirme tarzlarına bakıldığında ise şekil bakımından gerekçelendirme tarzları hiçbir değişkene göre farklılık göstermemektedir. İçerik gerekçelendirmelerindeyse değeri benimseyenler en çok akıl yürütme ve duygulara dayalı gerekçelendirme, değeri benimsemeyenlerle beklenen değerin karşıtını savunanlar, duygu ve çıkarlara dayalı gerekçelendirme tarzlarını kullanmıştır. Gerekçelendirme düzeylerine bakıldığında da değeri benimseyenlerde ilk iki sırada orta ve alt düzey, değeri benimsemeyenlerde en alt ve alt düzey, beklenen değerin karşıtını savunanlar da alt düzey ve en alt düzey çıkmıştır. Değeri benimseyenler dışındaki gruplarda üst düzey gerekçelendirmenin görülmemesi dikkat çekmektedir. Öğrencilerin gerekçelendirmede okuduğunu anlamama, empati kuramama, yeterli kelime dağarcığına sahip olmama, metinlerde tutarlılığı ve bağdaşıklığı sağlayamama gibi sorunlar tespit edilmiştir. Bu sonuçlara bağlı olarak tartışma ve yorumlar yapılmış; eğitim ortamları ve toplumsal hayata ilişkin öneriler sunulmuştur.
