With the presence of applications and development of the user's need for this, a lot of data is transmitted over the Internet. There is a need to have systems to protect this data, which carries a lot of important information, such as the addition of a password and others. Biometrics deals with protecting personal information. Many of biometrics techniques has been used in many of application such as security systems. Fingerprints are the most common of this biometrics. This thesis focuses on biometric identification using fingerprints, which is the most popular and most used of all biometrics. The general framework of this thesis is the design and implementation of identity protection systems using the concept of biometric fingerprint. In the system, fingerprints of users are taken and then transferred through an RFID device, to the place where the matching is conducted. Then, features of fingerprints are extracted using image processing techniques. Finally, the extracted features are compared with the fingerprint features (or images) stored in the database. The aim of this thesis to compare the performances of fingerprint identification methods, such as, SIFT, SURF, and ORB, and to integrate these methods into an application. Keywords: Biometrics, Fingerprint Recognition, Fingerprint Matching, SIFT (Scale-Invariant Feature Transform) Algorithm, SURF (Speeded Up Robust Features) Algorithm, ORB (Oriented FAST And Rotated BRIEF) Algorithm, FANN (Fast Approximate Nearest Neighbor) Algorithm, Brut Force Algorithm.
