The philosophy of Ludwig Wittgenstein has always been investigated in two different periods. Tractatus-Logico Philosophicus reflects his first period views. This book is written in order to establish the logical status of language. The conformity of language-world is the basis of his views in this book. In the language we can only expresss things that exist in the world. Wittgenstein prefers no to talk about things which do not exist in the world. These views establish Wittgenstein's `picture theory`. Wittgenstein's second period views are found in Philosophical Investigations. During this period Wittgenstein sees the language among activities of humans and his main interest is in the usage of language. In this period, language is accepted as a language-game which has specific rules just like other games. Life styles form the language-games. That's why, language-games are investigated in relation to the life styles. The views of Wittgenstein in Investigations are similar to symbolic interactionism. Symbolic interactionism is an approach which focuses on the subjective structure of meaning. The leading defenders of this view is American sociolog Herbert Mead and his follower Herbert Blumer. For both thinkers the main reason in the formation of meaning are persons. A person gives meaning to things by expressing it in symbols. To understand a tiling is only possible to participate in the social setting where the meaning of the thing is formed. This particular matter is the part where symbolicinteractionism and Wittgenstein's second period views are similar to each other. The similarities of these two approaches are the subject of the fourth section the thesis.

Ludwig Wittgenstein' in dil felsefesi, daima iki ayrı dönemde ele alınıp incelenmiştir.
