Özet

Hurufat Papers, which are in the Vakıflar Genel Müdürlüğü, were kept alphabeticly according to township management. We can identify these towns social, cultural and economic developments from these records. We can also see that all of the datas of the appointments to the religious, social and cultural institutions and processes about these appointed staff were recorded in these papers. From these books, which were generally written in the Divani style, we can also learn the amount of salaries of these officers. When we examinate 25 books, which belong to Kilis, we can reach the information about Kilis between 1690-1832. While Kilis has only one page in some of these books, this number can rise in others. Thanks to the conclusion of this study, we can identfy what kind of institutions Kilis and its bordering area had, and how did these institutions developed and changed between 1690 and 1832. Key Words: Social and Economic Life, Hurufat Papers, Kilis.
