The relationship of inflation and economic growth, which is one of the most important indicators of the macro economics, is a controversial issue discussed in the literature for quite a long time. Many different views had been argued about the characteristics of the relationship between inflation and economic growth. Indeed, there are many empirical studies in the literature that argues whether this relationship is negative, positive or there is an impact of inflation on the economic growth within a framework of a relative threshold value.Inflation in Turkey, as a developing country, is accepted a great problem for economic growth after 1970s and were constituted as a main rationale for policy designs and implementations. In this research, the relationship of inflation and the economic growth is firstly explained in a theoretical manner and then it is evaluated with an empirical application. The relationship is examined in a time series analyses using the data between the years of 1980 and 2014. Granger causality and regression analyses are used as a method for the study. As a result of the Granger causality analyses, it is found that there is a one-way causality relationship from inflation to growth. Consequently, inflation is affecting economic growth in Turkey. And according to the outcome of regression analyses, the coefficient of inflation is -0,6 and there is a negative directed relationship between inflation and growth. Eventually every 1% units of increase in the inflation causes a 0,6% units of decrease in the economic growth. This outcome is also analogous with the results of the researches that had been conducted for Turkey before.Key Words: Turkey, Inflation, Economic Growth, Relationship.
