Özet

The present thesis work examines the newly established Republic of Azarbaijan, which gained independence after the fall of the Soviet Union, from a socio-economical and political prospective. It consists of three sections. Section 1 provides a general introduction to Azarbaijan. It offers a discussion of Azarbaijan's geographical, historical, political, and social characteristics. Section 2 treats Azarbaijan's economic development and its relations with other countries. Section 3 briefly explores the legal structure of Azarbaijan and explains the historical development of various aspects of its executive power, legislation, and jurisdiction. Due to the fact that Azarbaijan is located at the center of the Turkish Republics, it has great strategic importance. Given its oil and other rich natural resources, very high literacy rate, young population, and newly restructured state body, Azarbaijan is expected to find a respectable place among the other countries of the world by mobilizing its potential for development. The sole source of sovereignty of Azarbaijan is its people. The people have the right to freely determine their future by choosing the type of their government. The present thesis aims at introducing the new State of Azarbaijan, describing its past, future, and socio-economical structure, and revealing its possible role in the region and its potential for development.
