3SUMMARYIt is inevitable that the concept of ecology in architecture shall be questioned today, regarding the growing impact of the built environment on the natural balance backedup by the global population growth. This study is meant to scrutinize the state of?being ecological? in design, via comparing different design disciplines on grounds ofthe increasing responsibility of the designer in terms of maintaining global balance. The introduction chapter is based on the significance of the subject, in relevance tothe short term projections on the consumptional preferences. The structuraltransformations of the ecology concept on the basis of geography and economy, arediscussed in a wholistic manner. The first chapter covers a general evaluation of the interactions of global dynamics ofhuman life, thus providing a definition of the problem. In the second chapter, the ecological characters of different architectural conceptsare studied via examining the differences and preferences in architecture in thehistorical progress with geographical reference. The definitive parameters formed inthis process are mentioned. Subsequently, the transformations of the designmethods structured via the subjective parameters are defined. The issue of energy and the urban scale effects of the interactions of the subjectivedesign concepts on human life are examined in the third chapter. The ecologicalbalance problems which are triggered by the built environment are described, causedby the amalgamation of individual designs of different genres. The fourth chapter is formed to emphasize the relevant state of awareness requiredto provide the essential ethical and intellectual formation of the designer, in order tobe involved in the on going cycle. Within the fast formation of the culture ofglobalisation, the parameters that are to be paid attention by the designer aredefined, for making the provisional preferences that lead to ecological wholism.4In the conclusion chapter, the changes and transformations of design mentalities arediscussed depending on the given examples throughout the study. The scrutiny ofthe subjective transformation is realized in the axis of an effective design languageon the general living environment with improving possibilities; yet in a progressivesubtlety. The empathy is put on the designer?s required contribution to thistransformation in terms of ecological principles; being free of tendencies in definingthe standing point of the `individual? in the global whole.
