In the dates from Ottoman Constitutional Monarchy to Turkish Republic, Konya had a quick progress from point of economical and social views. The fact that the route line of the Istanbul Baghdat railway passed through Konya, played a great role in this development and changing. Before the railway line didn?t pass through Konya, the products and goods manufactured here were sent to Silifke, Alanya, Antalya, partially to abroad by ports of İzmir as well as consumed in domestic market. It is by the construction of this railway line that the routes were changed and the transportation route was arrived to European Countries, Ausria-Hungary Empire and Prussia Empire by Konya-Istanbul-Sofia-Budapest railway line or by Maritime Trade Route of Danube River originating from Istanbul. The transportation facilities enabled the tradesmen to trend to Konya. For this reason, the inhabitants of Konya enlarged the cultivation areas in the city surroundings and increased the product varieties. They tried to obtain products of hihg quality. This situation required the machinery and factory construction. In this modern transformation of Konya it shouldn?t forget the supports of Ottoman State Administrators as well as those of european merchants. In the period of Second Ottoman Constitutional Monarchy, the Turkish authorised persons increased more and more support to Konya.By different supports, the tradesmen of Konya made headway in the production and marketing. By means of the companies that they founded, they covered a great distance in the trade activities in order to export the harvested crops and manufactured goods and to import different articles from abroad. They resolved probable financial problems by withdraw credits from the financial houses they established. The tradesmen of Konya were interested in all types of commerces before the Second World War. After this war, the commercial connection was cut off with abroad. Nevertheless, the domestic trade was increased.By benefiting from this situation, they increased the number of the banks and companies in order to be efficient at home and abroad. This continued until 1923?s.The tradesmen of Konya, who gained experience in the more productive use of cultivation areas and the harvesting the crops of high quality, had a great experience in the trade as well. While trying to remove war fatigue with the proclamation of the Republic, these experiences were not sufficient for them. They faltered when the companies and banks having great capital opened their branchs in Konya. Their enterprises tried to survive againts their competition. But the famine period worldwidely occured between 1925 to 1930 terminated their activities because they were doing individual activities in the face of the powerful enterprises. These local enterprises were annihilated one after another.
