In this study; today's competitive world's information technologies have been particularly examined in regards to innovation in the defense industry and studies on it that have been compiled. The defense industry in Turkey, in a short period, has made extremely important developments. Today our defense industry has essential insights and problems in the respect of under development of technology. In this context, it is necessary to discuss the defense industry as a major innovation system. Many different actors are involved in the development of the system and identifying the needs of the defense industry. The purposes of this study is to reveal the different innovation actors in the defense industry, to bring a valid identification to the innovation, to investigate the use of the innovation in military industry, with the advances in military technology a little bit to be done simultaneously with the detection of changes and improvements, though keeping the light, Turkey has put forth by identifying military innovation activities in general. The results obtained in this study demonstrate that in the defense industry, for innovation activities, there is a need to train highly qualified and motivated human power and also ensure the sustainability are very important. Again, according to the results of research, it is seen that universities are not as effective in the defense industry innovation system. Finally, since the republic's founding, demonstrating the power and confidence of the military presence of Turkey, aims to be an active force in the world and region. The nationalization efforts in all fields, especially in the defense implementation, have important considerations for the independent and secure future. In this sense, the interaction with the defense system of the universities should been increased, grasping the strategic importance of innovation in the defense industry should be encouraged to use local and national capital, necessary arrangements should been made by removing bureaucratic obstacles impeding the continuity of very important military innovations in order to ensure the national security. Keywords: Innovation, Defense Industry, Information Technology.
