Cyber security vulnerabilities continue to increase in many intelligent systems. Smart vehicles which can be considered as a sub-branch of smart systems, have become almost software on a wheel. The number of lines of code running on vehicles and the increase in cyber-physical systems have brought an increase in attack surface. Almost all of the vehicles produced after the 1990s can be classified as smart vehicles. There are not much method to detect and evaluate cyber vulnerabilities and risks in smart vehicles. Another challenge is that cyber risks are often not archived. In cases where statistical data are scarce, it may be more appropriate to evaluate the opinions of experts. In this thesis, we propose a model for smart cars to calculate the cyber security risks based on interval type-2 fuzzy sets. The model was developed on the formal risk relationship technique called CORAS, a technique that converges the probability values of the probability of each event occurring as intervals from experts to a nearest final value. Based on the technique, the sub-events leading to the undesired event occurring in smart cars are roughly modeled. Then, the fuzzy probabilities of several events to the final event became computable. The given risk map was first tested with synthetic values and then the information gathered on the basis of expert opinions was tested using this newly derived method. Finally, it became possible to calculate the probability of the occurance of the unwanted incident specified to calculate the risk value as in input.
