Companies generally keep some stocks to respond better due to some reasons and sudden demand changes. Apart from this there are many reasons for stocking such as production interruption due to running out of stock which stems from uncertain market conditions, loss of time, money and prestige. However, there are many disadvantages of overstocking. These disadvantages increase costs of companies so companies need to manage their inventory effectively. This study includes implementation of order quantity (EOQ) model which is one of inventory control methods in ceramic factory. Two different methods were applied in the calculation of EOQ. The first method is to carry out analyzing EOQ calculations by response surface method (RSM). The second method is about classic EOQ calculation. To produce the ceramic product, 281 different auxiliary materials are used. Pareto (ABC) analysis was performed to determine which of the materials have higher priority. As a result of the analysis, value of 21items among 281different items were compared to ratio of total product and the ratio was found %70, 4 so the calculations were made for 21 items. Usage value for every single items for years respectively 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014 were received from the company. 8 different demand forecasting methods were applied to find the amount of the demand in EOQ. As a result of forecasting, EOQ of the items were calculated by establishing a model. Also, EOQ and RSM calculations of the items were made and both calculation results were compared to each other. In light of the obtained results, it is understood that RSM can be used in EOQ calculations results was better than the establishing a model result. Also, there are big differences between EOQ values which were implemented by the company and the value which we calculated. It is expected that the company will gain approximately 591,4 currencies if they implement RSM value.
