Fully using the possibilities of LCD/LED TV technology, delivering new features in terms of lives in the last month. Therefore, the search for a new trend of technology and also this trend is 3D TVs.The master thesis study is a FPR 3D compatible mainboard design study which aims to bring the third dimension(3D). 3D TVs are set as the new technology trend after 2D LCD TVs. The 2D technology of current LCD TV system is going to substitute by 3D technology with new 3D movies, games and broadcasts with the location of entry into the market for new technological developments in consumer technology. 3D TV will entirely change the television watching habits. Audience will not be in passive role, but also within the image will feel itself more. With this technology, culture and experience of monitoring the mass will change. For example, by a 3D TV; various events such as sporting competitions and concerts can be watched at home in 3D mode and the audience will feel themselves withins the events a lot more.At 2011 CES and IFA fairs, 3D dislaying related presentations and advertisements of some companies such as Samsung, LG, Sony, Panasonic were made. This shows that all over the world, 3D is becoming a new market by dense R&D activities. This increases the demand rate gradually for 3D TVs. Generator Research company published a research that in 2014 as a result of 3DTV $17 billion in market volume and market share is estimated to be 39%.This mainboard design project which is applied by me at Vestel Electronics Inc. simulatanously and accepted as Indurstrial Thesis (San-Tez) by the Industry Ministry; this design project has a characteristic which uses entirely new generation of passive polarized 3D glasses and watched as the launch of the Frame/Film Pattern Retarder (FPR) imaging technology. FPR-tech offers superior features when compared to 3D TVs that is watched with active glasses (SG). Stereoscopic imaging technology is going to be used in FPR-tech and 3D formatter formats the image in line-interleave method for each right and left eye and finally the image will be given to the panel at compatible mode. Polarization single and double rows of this image is different because of passive polarized glasses, each through a different glass, and are taken by the left and right eye image at same time and in the center of the brain is composed for 3D perception.FPR 3DTV motherboard design; To capture the 3D broadcast or stream basically over HDMI, in particular over the RF, Scart, FAV, YPbPr and VGA by supporting HDMI 1.4a mandatory 3D formats which are created by using 3D stereoscopic recording method. The thesis study is based on after received this 3D video stream after video processing in the main IC and FPGA-based 3D image formatter and bring together the advantages of display technology of FPR. The study that compatible with FPR technology is based on the achieving all system design stages and take approval of standardized tests. Keywords: 3D, 3D TV, FPR Display Technology, FPGA Based Formatter, Stereoscopic Recording, Line-interleave, HDMI 1.4a, Passive Polarized Glass, Shutter Glass (SG).
