In this study, first of all, by clarifying the concept of tragedy from a few examples from the past, Kierkegaard and Nietzsche, who had different effects on the life of thought with their ideas, were aimed to be included. In addition to the intellectual aspects of both philosophers, their lives are remarkable.Inspired by their lives, their thoughts and history of thought were created in different perspectives.Although tragic sections were staged from different angles in the life of both philosophers, these thoughts were reflected in the ideas they developed. The contributions of Kierkegaard's individualist approach to the philosophy of existence, acting on concepts such as anxiety, fear, hopelessness, faith, death and irony, are undeniable.Kierkegaard, who described existence as the realization of one's own existence, addressed this situation in three stages: aesthetics, ethics and religion. These concepts that make up his life of thought are reflections of his views on tragedy. In the next section, Nietzsche, known as a rebellious philosopher who has a tragic life story, will be analyzed and his effects on the concept of tragedy will be analyzed. At this point, the concepts of Dionysus and Apollo have an important place. The notion of tragedy, which includes both sections of life and mythology, has allowed us to witness miraculous situations as well as fate, revenge, love and grief. In this context, tragedy has been able to make an aesthetic and ethical connection. In the philosophical structure of both philosophers, human beings have to be overcome. While in Kierkegaard, the idea of self-realization with the divine at the highest level is the forefront, while in Nietzsche, this is symbolized by the superiorhuman who can make his own values.KEYWORDS: Dionysus, aesthetics, irony, tragedy, existence.
