As a narrator, he displays the lives of people who left a deep impression on him starkly and conspicuously by using native language and confronts readers with reality directly. Verga narrates the stories of ordinary people like peasants, farmers, day labourers and miners as protagonists who were abandoned to their fates by their governments and aristocracy. By this way, he makes his readers feel the silent screams of these people who are trying to get rid of poverty and struggling for life. In conclusion, this study is a useful source to understand the period of Verga who takes the opportunity for depicting social corruptions through tragedies of people and effects of that period on people.
