The scripture of İbn Zunbul is considered as one of the primary sources in the historical research process. Although İbn Zunbul is considered one of the prominent historians, who documented the events of Ottoman conquest of Sham and Egypt, he was not treated fairly by researchers. His scriptures are still neglected and did not receive the deserved attention by researchers and was not tested scientifically. The importance of the work of İbn Zunbul comes from the fact that he witnessed the events of the Ottoman conquest of Egypt and Sham (Syria) at the end of the fifteenth century and at the beginning of the sixteenth century. Those events put an end to the rule of Mamaleek government in Egypt and Sham and transferred it to Ottomans. The subject of our study dealt with attesting, analyzing, and evaluating Al Remal scripture of İbn Zunbul: The Battle between Sultan Saleem and Sultan Kanso Al Ghouri. The scripture consists of two volumes, and the research of our study is limited to the first volume that is located in Mansia Library `Ilhalk`, number 1357. This volume includes 172 pages. In his first volume, İbn Zunbul had recorded the events of the fight between Sultan Saleem and Sultan Kanso Al Ghouri in Marj Dabig, and had described in details the events of the fight in Alredaineh between Sultan Saleem and Sultan Tumanby. İbn Zunbul referred to the role of Jan Braday Al Gharali and Fair Baik, the deputy of Halab, in betraying Mamaleek military forces, which had a significant role in the conquer of Mamaleek State. He did not also ignore the reference to the internal conflict and struggle among the Mamaleek military forces, which had a substantial role in their defeat by the military forces of Sultan Saleem.VIII In addition to the historical value of îbn Zunbul's scripture, it has military values. In his first volume, he had referred many times to the military tools utilized in battles at that time, and the military structures of Mamaleek and Ottomans. This volume is considered a renaissance record for Mamlouki idioms in terms of military management and others used at that time. In conclusion, the scripture of İbn Zunbul is considered one of the most valuable, historical sources that deal with the history of Egypt and Sham in general, and the history of Egypt in particular. It is indispensable for a researcher to do without consulting İbn Zunbul's scripture in regards to history of Egypt and Sham.
