This research was studied with the purpose of analyzing the effect of `Game-Based Cognitive Development Programme` (GBCDP) on cognitive development of 60-72 months old children. The independent variable of the research is `Game-Based Cognitive Development Programme` for 60-72 months old children. The dependent variables are the ability of language notion, the ability of discrimination speed, the ability of number notion and the ability of space notion (cognitive development scores). In this research, one of the true experimental design, pre-test and post-test control group model is applied.A total number of 44 children (22 experimental group, 22 control group) who are attending Karatay Municipality Fetihkent Kindergarten in Konya in 2014-2015 academic year, in the range of 60-72 months, growing normally and haven't studied Game-Based Cognitive Training before, were included in the workgroup. In this research as data gathering tools, general information form contains questions for children and parents and Thurston's Primary Mental Abilities Test 5-7 (PMA 5-7) in order to test statistically the effectiveness of `Game-Based Cognitive Development Programme` on cognitive development of 60-72 months old children who attend kindergarten were used. The scale was used as a pre-test to the children who were in experimental and control groups. Game-Based Cognitive Development Programme was applied `regularly and controlled` to the children elected to the experimental group in addition to experience in their environment during 12 weeks, 2 days a week and 1 hour per day that's totally 24 hours by the investigator. Individual and group studies were conducted in the classroom and giving home games associated with the games taught in the classroom were also provided to strengthen the Game-Based Cognitive Development Programme at home. After the application of the program, the scale PMA 5-7 was applied as a post-test to the experimental and control groups, twelve weeks after it was re-applied as a monitoring test for testing the durability of GBCDP to the children in both experimental and control groups. In statistical analysis, percentage (%) was used to describe the variables that belong to children and parents. In comparison of pre-test scores of experimental and control group children, independent-samples t test was used; in comparison of post-test scores of experimental and control group children, independent-samples t test was used; in comparison of pre-test and post-test scores, post-test and monitoring test scores of both groups, paired-samples t test was used. The level of significance to test the differeces between scores 0.05 was taken. When findings were analyzed, it was found that there was no meaningful difference between scores of pre-test of language notion / discrimination speed / number notion and space notion of experimental and control groups. Comparing scores of post-test of language notion / discrimination speed / number notion and space notion of experimental and control groups, it was found that there was a meaningful differentiation in favor of experimental group. It was found that there was not a meaningful difference between scores of pre-test and post-test of language notion / discrimination speed and space notion of control group; but there was a meaningful difference between scores of pre-test and post-test of number notion. It was found that there was a meaningful difference between scores of pre-test and post-test of language notion / discrimination speed / number notion and space notion of experimental group and this difference is in favor of scores of post-test. When compared post-test and monitoring test of language notion scores of experimental group, it was found that there was not a meningful differentiation; but when compared post-test and monitoring test of discrimination speed / number notion and space notion of experimental group, it was found that there was a meaningful differentiation in which was stemmed from increasing monitoring test scores of children. It was recorded a meaningful differentiation between the mean of pre-test intelligence quotient scores and the mean of post-test intelligence quotient scores of children in experimental group and this difference is in favor of scores of post-test. Most important of all, it was found that this program caused a significant increase of about 14 points in the intelligence quotient of children in experimental group. In terms of these findings, it is determined that `Game-Based Cognitive Development Programme` is effective on cognitive development of children and this effect is permanent.
