Our thesis seeks response to the question ?Could Turkey benefit from the firm family and kinship relationships?? starting from the economical development experience of South Korea. Because of this reason, the large enterprises and family characteristics of South Korea and Turkey will be examined by comparison. Our method of examination is historical. Our thesis results could be summarized as follows: The large enterprises are obviously under the control of the families in South Korea and Turkey; at the same time such characteristics form the points of separation with the Anglo-American enterprise model. No meaningful difference is determined in the operation of the chaebol and Turkish family holdings; rather it is concluded that there are some common characteristics. The similarities of two enterprise models are based on the firm family and kinship relationships which are the legitimate way of the authority relationships in both of the communities. The mentioned family enterprises played an important role in the economical development in this structure which is defined as ?traditional?. Because of this reason, the suggestion that the family enterprises are an unproductive form of the economical development is refused. Because every community has the capability of producing their own solutions in their own histories. South Korea found its own solution with the family enterprises in the ?firm family and kinship relationships? which are considered as the legitimate foundation of the authority relationships. Turkey is also capable of producing its own solution in a separate legitimate foundation. Connecting the economical development with the structural characteristics only has a low explanability. The only result of these ways of explanation is preparing environment for the interventions to be made to the non-Western countries. As a result of forcing the economical structures (production, exchange and sharing mechanisms) of all of the countries by the global economy for changing and reacting in a severe manner, the specific development ways of individual countries are getting also difficult and become impossible. The specific economical development models are under a great risk. Because of this reason, maybe in a near future, it would not be possible to mention a ?South Korea model? or ?Southeast Asia model?.
