Bursa Green Mosque is a work of art which reflects on various materials all the skills that human beings were capable of at the time that it was built. The mosque has gained its actual reputation from its decoration and especially from the tiles of incredible quality and richness. With its tile decoration reaching the present day, Green Mosque has the richest ornament program that the Ottoman architecture produced before the Edirne Period and Classical Period. It has been considered the most spectacular masterpiece due to its tile decoration which is as important as the building?s design. The main subject consists of the detailed analysis of the techniques, patterns and the pattern compositions that are used in tile ornaments. In addition to the continuation of the mosaic tile technique that was frequently used in Seljukian period, it is stated that tiles which are produced using colored glazed tiles are first seen in this mosque complex. It is also another remarkable point that rumi style and hatayi style are used together in the mosque?s tile decorations and that in time it became a feature exclusive to Early Period Decoration. The most important part of our study is composed of the photographs taken in person and the compositions and composition analyses drawn using CorelDRAW X5 based on these photographs. In consequence of all the findings presented in our study, it can be stated that the tile ornaments, techniques and compositions of Green Mosque are the most important indicators of the regular and constant development in Turkish tile art. Keywords: Green Mosque, Bursa, Tile, Decoration.
