If the necessary environmental and technical measures are not taken after the completion of the mining activities, ecological structure damages occur and accidents happen on the mining fields. In order to reduce the environmental problems that may occur and to prevent accidents in the mining fields, post-mining land use planning needs to be established. For this purpose, a model has been developed which includes geographic information systems, fuzzy membership functions, multi-criteria decision making methods and expert opinions to determine the land usage plans after finishing the activities of the marble quarries. Antalya, Burdur and Isparta, which are located in the western Mediterranean region, have been identified as working regions. Using the analytical network process method, the weights of the criteria affecting the land use decision were determined. Fuzzy membership functions are used in the standardization of the criteria. As a result of application of the model; agricultural land, afforestation area, recreation area, industrial development area and landfill area land usage suitability are determined. With the application of the model, the most suitable land usage for marble areas has been allocated for use. It has been determined that the most effective criteria for determining land usage are settlement areas, road network, water resources and wildlife criteria. According to the results obtained, the appropriateness numbers of the usage of afforestation area, recreation area and landfill area were found to be relatively higher than those of other land usage types. As a result of the study, beneficial results have been obtained in terms of feasibility by establishing a specific systematic approach to planning.
