Özet

In this study, the effects of thunder sounds, light flash and electrical fields on seed germination, post germinative seedling growth and pigment contents of wheat (Triticum aestivum), sunflower (Helianthus annulus) and pigweed (Amaranthus retroflexus) varieties of plant species were investigated. The seeds were exposed to different sounds, light flashes and electrical fields. As a result, seed germination and seedling lengths were generally increased by the sounds and light treatment in pigweed. Root and shoot length, and chlorophyll a, total chlorophyll and carotenoid contents were enhanced by the same treatments in sun flower. Whereas, the tratments have increased root, shoot and seedling lengths and all the pigment contents in wheat. In general, high level of the sound has showed negative but its low and middle levels have showed positive effects on the seeds. On the other hand, electrical field produced by alternative current (AC) increased the root length of pigweed and shoot length of the sun flower, but it decreased contents of the all pigments studied. In the case of wheat, the same treatment partly increased seedling length but it decreased chlorophyll contents. Electrical field produced by direct current (DC) was seen to enhance shoot length and contents of all the pigments of wheat. Keywords: Carotenoid, chlorophyll, electrical field, light, pigweed, seed germination, seedling growth, sunflower, thunder sound, wheat.
