Nowadays, narratology as an independent scienceand its scopes have expanded to an extent that researchers and literary critics can study different fields of this discipline. Recently, novel and story as two crucial materials in narratology are explored; therefore, our research entitled `The Basics of Narration in the Novel of Helim Yusif's Sobarto` will be the focus of this study. This thesis endeavors to explore Yousif's novel and reveal the elements and techniques of narration, based on some scientific theories. In Sobarto some symbols and signs of post modernistic emblems are utilized. Generally, the story revolves around two characters; Suleiman as the narrator and protagonist of the story portrays the destiny of his nation, whereas Balqis is depicted as the land of the nation. Balqis can be identified as the protagonist's assistant as well as his enemy. This is due to the fact that Baqilz develops a lovely relationship with Suleiman. Nevertheless, at the end of the sixth section of the novel, Balqis ruins and ends the relationship. Even though the seven sections of the novel depict Sulaiman's life in seven different epochs, as an event, character, time, and setting, the novel highlights the profundity of history. In the novel, burning is an apparent thime as Amuedy Cinemas and 60 prisoners are burned. Generally, the elements and techniques of narration in the novel vary between magical realism and fantasy; therefore, the occurrences, time, setting, and characters convey the magical realism to the reader.
