With its conditions or processes of existence, the approach of the cultural studies has brought an ontological attachment to the autonomy of culture. The antecedents and the founding texts of cultural studies have reached, foremost, to a definition of culture as `a whole way of life? deriving from the combination of the aesthetic/humanistic description of culture as a measure of perfection with the anthropological description of culture. Then, the approach which takes culture as `maps of meaning? in the textual reading process has become another topic in the area. The already relatively weak connection of the explanation of the early period in the cultural studies depending on class, history and society has diminished altogether with the American influence on the cultural studies. After that, the cultural studies has become an explanation of the infinite number of topics of the daily life culture, through text reading processes and an ahistorical and asocietal form of discussion. Shaped by the infinite number of topics of the daily life and its momentary nature into an inter/trans/a-/anti disciplinary approach, this new methodological approach is trying to take place of the methodological approach of the social sciences. The approach of the cultural studies has a significant influence on the restructuring processes of the social sciences in general, and anthropology and sociology in particular, which have taken culture as one of their topics of discussion. The new social scientific categorizations/classifications which have began with the `open the social sciences? discussion in the West, are brought forward on the agenda with the interdisciplinary approach of the cultural studies. At the junction of the discussions brought forward by the crisis in the social sciences, cultural studies took the central place and the idea of the postmodern solidified in it. Together with the restructuring process of the social sciences, the approach cultural studies has, which takes the topics thought to be marginal to the center and the daily life as its basis, is evaluated in this study as being superficial in its explanations. In this study, it has been reached to the conclusion that this approach which is contrary to the established basis and character of sociology as a science does not aim at the social action but has turned into some magazine-daily life reality determined by the culture/communication industry which is far from establishing the historical and social reality.
