The concept of family is as old as humanity. Hence, it has emerged with the first human being and has existed ever since. Throughout history, there has never been a society without the families. Although some regimes attempted to destroy the institution of marriage, they have not succeeded and consequently accepted that the family is the foundation of society. Islam also places serious emphasis on the importance of the concept of family. More than 200 verses in The Quran on the family exhibits this remark. By accepting some of the rules about family of the Arab society that Islam first addressed and rejecting or transforming the rest of the rules, Islam had created universal principals intending to provide family happiness. Nowadays, the institution of family is being degenerated rapidly and moral values are being depleted under the context of secularisation, modernisation and globalisation. As a result of this degeneration, happiness and peace in the majority of families are being damaged and divorce rates are increasing swiftly. In view of the destruction of the family instution in the west, it is clear that the most urgent solution is to resort to the Quran. In this study, the resolutions provided by the Quran over the examples of families and core elements of family happiness are analyzed. Besides, the contentious concepts like 'qawwam', 'itdaad', 'nushuz', 'equivalence' are examined and positions of men and women in respect to each other are resolved. In addition, it is emphasized that to decrease divorce rates and to increase the number of happy families are only reasonable if the concepts of love, respect, tolerance, patience, chastity are recovered under the radiance of the Quran. Keywords: The Quran, Family, Happiness, Qawwam, Fondness.

Kur'an'da âileyle ilgili 200 küsûr âyetin bulunması bunu açıkça ortaya koymaktadır. Anahtar Kavramlar: Kur'an, Âile, Saâdet, Kavvâm, Meveddet.
