The aim of this study is to research the alteration foot and ankle posture and characteristics of stroke patients; their effects on balance and foot function. The study includes 29 stroke patients and 25 healthy individuals who were not diagnosed with any neurological disease in the Kastamonu Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Center. After obtaining demographic information of all the participants, measurements were made for the foot posture and characteristics by using methods like anthropometric measurements, joint range of motion, muscle tone, foot posture index, navicular drop test, calcaneal stance position tests. For balance and foot function measurements; Berg balance scale, one foot stop test, functional reach test, foot function index and visual analog scale-foot and ankle index were used. By examining the differences between all these parameters; the relationship between foot posture parameters and balance and function parameters were investigated. The affected feet of the subjects with paralysis were supinated compared to the unaffected feet and the control group (p <0.05).Significant differences between the groups in foot-related measurements were observed (p <0.05); all of the balance parameters were also observed significant differences between the control groups (p <0.05). It was found that the supination in the foot posture in paralyzed patients had a negative effect on the results of the one-foot stop test and the Berg balance scale (p <0.05). Foot characteristics were found to be correlated with balance and function parameters. Keywords: Stroke, Foot, Foot Deformity, Foot Posture, Balance.
