In this research, the influence of 9th grade students of popular science journals on biology lesson and informatics attitudes was investigated. In this context, semi-experimental research design with pre-test / post-test control group was used. The data collection tools used for the research were applied to the control and experimental groups as pre-test and post-test. The research was carried out on a special Anatolian high school, 9th grade students in the first semester of 2016-2017 academic year. A branch experiment randomly selected from two branches was selected as a branch control group. In the selected control group, a traditional teaching method based on straight narration and in the experimental group, a booklet prepared from popular science journals and biology teaching was applied. Before the experimental application, the data collection instruments were applied as a pre-test in order to determine the attitudes of the students in the control and experiment groups to the biology course and to the informatics. These data collection tools were reapplied to the students in the control and experimental groups at the end of the experimental process and tried to determine whether there was a significant difference between the scores before and after the research process. `Attitude Scale Towards Biology Course` and `Attitude Scale Toward Biology` were applied to both groups as pre-test and post-test to determine attitudes towards biology and informatics.Mann Whitney U-test for unrelated measures and Wilcoxon Marked Rank test analysis for related measures were used in the analysis of the data. It was seen that applying the popular science journals in the biology lesson from the data obtained as a result of the research was not effective in the level of attitudes towards biology lesson and informatics of the 9th grade students of secondary school.

Bu araştırmada popüler bilim dergilerinin 9. sınıf öğrencilerinin biyoloji dersine ve bilime yönelik tutumlarına etkisi incelenmiştir. Bu kapsamda ön test-son test kontrol gruplu yarı deneysel araştırma deseni kullanılmıştır. Araştırma için kullanılan veri toplama araçları kontrol ve deney gruplarına ön test ve son test olarak uygulanmıştır. Araştırma 2016-2017 eğitim-öğretim yılı I. Döneminde özel bir anadolu lisesi, 9. sınıf öğrencileri üzerinde yürütülmüştür. İki şubeden rastgele seçilen bir şube deney, bir şube kontrol grubu olarak seçilmiştir. Seçilen kontrol grubunda düz anlatıma dayalı geleneksel öğretim yöntemi, deney grubunda ise popüler bilim dergilerinden hazırlanan bir kitapçık ile biyoloji öğretimi uygulanmıştır. Deneysel uygulama öncesinde, kontrol ve deney grubundaki öğrencilerin biyoloji dersindeki ve bilime yönelik tutum düzeylerini belirleyebilmek amacıyla veri toplama araçları ön test olarak uygulanmıştır. Bu veri toplama araçları, deneysel işlemin sonunda kontrol ve deney gruplarındaki öğrencilere tekrar uygulanarak, araştırma süreci öncesi ve süreç sonundaki puanları arasında anlamlı seviyede fark olup olmadığı belirlenmeye çalışılmıştır. Biyoloji dersine ve bilime yönelik tutumlarını belirleyebilmek için `Biyoloji Dersine Yönelik Tutum Ölçeği` ve `Bilime Yönelik Tutum Ölçeği` ön test ve son test olarak her iki gruba da uygulanmıştır. Verilerin analizinde ilişkisiz ölçümler için Mann Whitney U-testi ve ilişkili ölçümler için Wilcoxon İşaretli Sıralar testi analizleri kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın sonucunda elde edilen verilerden biyoloji dersinde popüler bilim dergilerini uygulamanın, ortaöğretim 9. sınıf öğrencilerinin biyoloji dersine ve bilime yönelik tutum düzeylerinde etkili olmadığı görülmüştür.
