Under the influence of changing cultural and social processes in architecture, the transfer of these variable processes takes place through space. Space is not only a defined and physical notion but also a multidimensional notion that includes social and cultural specificities, transformations and interactions. Therefore, the location of the space on the interdisciplinary ground allows the opportunity to make spatial inferences through the animations, which is a different field. In this study, the cultural dimension of the space represented through images is discussed through the way that space production and cultural values in animations are represented. The evaluation made on the concepts that constitute the theoretical framework of the study will be analyzed with the animator of Hayao Miyazaki, not the architectural works. `My Neighbor Totoro, Spirited Away and Wind Rises`, which are selected according to the conceptual framework of the study, are the films based on three different narratives written and directed by Miyazaki. These works were preferred in the study because Miyazaki's reflecting the culture-based images he grew up on to the spaces he designed. The animations examined not only make cultural references but also provide a critical representation of culture and space. Also, animations are not only objects of representation. It is a phenomenon that brings space to the mental dimension by using images that associate elements of architecture with a real or fictional situation. In this context, selected animations are used as a component of the narrative elements of architecture, and these spatial elements are carried to the mental dimension with images. The information obtained in this study, which aims to reveal the power of critical space which is the bearer of social memory and decipher the cultural references presented by the animations which are a visual art form, with the multidimensional spatial fiction and the cultural values it represents, is tried to be transferred to the discipline of architecture.
