In this study, the questions in the second grade Turkish school books and those ofOKS are analysed using Bloom?s cognitive taxonomy. In this work, scanning model has been employed. First of all, the literature relevant tothe subject is studied and a theoretical part is formed. The research covers 58 elementaryschools in Erzurum, 6.443 students attending to these schools in 2004-2005 academic year. Inthis research Turkish school books to be used in the 6th, 7th and 8th grades of elementaryschool in 2004-2005 academic year - which were proposed by `Talim Terbiye? Committee(Teaching and Training Committee) of Ministry of National Education and published in the2561 numbered Tebliğler Dergisi - and OKS questions were analysed. The sample questions taken from the Turkish school books have been transfered to thegraphics and tables and explained both in terms of their proportions and of the proportionsformed in accordance with the cognitive stages. Frequency (f) and percentage (%) techniquesare used for these graphics and tables. In the second stage of the study, the effects of thestudent?s sex, school level, his father?s occupation (socio-economic condition) and GPA ofhis Turkish language course on his scores of ÖUS total, ÖUS comprehension and ÖUSanalysis are studied. Finally, it has been determined that there is a close relationbetween the students? sex, school level, fathers? occupation, GPA in Turkish classes and theirscores obtained in ÖUS total, ÖUS comprehension and ÖUS analysis.
