The aim of this research is to determine the impact of the Narrative Theatre (Storytelling) Method on pre-service teachers' achievement in Art Education Course and interest towards art. Quantitative and qualitative methods were used together for data collection, analysis and interpretation of the research. The design of the research is Sequential Explanatory Design which is one of the mixed methods. The study group has consisted of 50 pre-service class teachers – 25 in experimental group and 25 in control group – who study Classroom Teaching at the Department of Primary Education at the Faculty of Educational Sciences, Ankara University in the spring semester of 2018-2019 Academic Year.`Art Education Achievement Test` and `Information Form Indicating the Level of Interest towards Art` scores were used as the quantitative method. From experimental design models, pre-test and post-test control group have been used in the research. The narrative theatre (Storytelling) method has been applied on the experimental group in Art Education Course and as traditional approach, classical expression, slides and question and answer have been applied on the control group in Art Education Course. At the end of the courses, 7 volunteers from the control group and 7 volunteers from the experimental group were asked to write letters about the courses. Also, 8 volunteers from the experimental group were interviewed. To compare the `Art Education Achievement Test` and `Information Form Indicating the Level of Interest towards Art` scores of the experimental and control groups, related t test and unrelated t test were used. Content analysis was used to analyze interviews and letters which are qualitative data. The results of the research indicate that the narrative theatre method has increased the participants' achievement in art education course and interest towards art. This increase was found to be significantly higher than the control group using traditional methods. In addition, the reason for this increase was discussed according to the results obtained from qualitative data. At this point, it is important for the course to be taught through narrative theater method to provide permanent learning, to be student-centered, to provide effective participation, to be willing to enter the course and to have fun. At the end of the research, based on the results obtained, suggestions for processing the narrative theater method in art education courses were listed.

Bu araştırmada, eğitim ortamında kullanılan anlatı tiyatrosu yönteminin öğretmen adaylarının sanat eğitimi derslerindeki başarı ve ilgilerine etkisini incelemek amaçlanmıştır. Araştırmanın veri toplama, analiz ve yorumlamasında nicel ve nitel yöntemler birlikte kullanılmıştır. Karma bir yöntem olan bu araştırmanın deseni açımlayıcı sıralı desendir. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu Ankara Üniversitesi Eğitim Bilimleri Fakültesi, Temel Eğitim Bölümü, Sınıf Öğretmenliği Anabilim Dalında 2018-2019 öğretim yılı bahar döneminde öğrenim gören 25'i deney grubunda, 25'i kontrol grubunda olmak üzere toplam 50 öğretmen adayı oluşturmaktadır. Nicel yöntem olarak `Sanat Eğitimi Erişi Ölçeği` ve `Sanata Duyulan İlgi Düzeyine İlişkin Bilgi Formu` puanlarının kullanıldığı gerçek deneme modellerinden ön test son test kontrol gruplu model kullanılmıştır. Sanat Eğitimi dersi kapsamında deney grubunda anlatı tiyatrosu yöntemi, kontrol grubunda geleneksel yaklaşım olarak klasik anlatım, slayt, soru cevap kullanılarak ders işlenmiştir. Uygulamaların bitiminde uygulanan testler yanında kontrol grubundan 7, deney grubundan 7 gönüllü öğrenciden uygulamalarla alakalı mektup yazmaları istenmiştir. Ayrıca deney grubu öğrencilerinden 8 gönüllü ile görüşmeler yapılmıştır. Deney ve kontrol grupları `Sanat Eğitimi Erişi Ölçeği` ve `Sanata Duyulan İlgi Düzeyine İlişkin Bilgi Formu` puanlarını karşılaştırmak için ilişkili ölçümler t testi ve ilişkisiz ölçümler için t testi kullanılmıştır. Nitel veriler olan mektup ve görüşmelerin analizinde ise içerik analizi kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın sonucunda anlatı tiyatrosu yönteminin katılımcıların sanata ilgi düzeylerini ve sanat eğitimi ders başarılarını artırdığı belirlenmiştir. Bu artışın ise geleneksel yöntemlerin kullanıldığı kontrol grubundan anlamlı bir şekilde yüksek çıktığı görülmüştür. Nitel verilerden elde edilen sonuçlar ışığında bu anlamlı farklılığın nedeni tartışılmıştır. Bu noktada anlatı tiyatrosu yöntemi ile işlenen dersin kalıcı öğrenmeyi sağlaması, öğrenci merkezli olması, etkin bir katılım sağlaması, derse girmede istekliliği ve eğlenmeyi sağlaması önemli bulgular arasındadır. Araştırmanın sonunda, elde edilen sonuçlardan yola çıkılarak sanat eğitimi derslerinde anlatı tiyatrosu yönteminin işlenmesine yönelik öneriler sıralanmıştır.
