Nowadays, businesses are looking for new methods to adapt to developing technology, increasing competition and to maximize customer satisfaction. There are demands of companies to be able to determine a strategic method in design, planning, production, service, and many areas and to be managed with a sustainable approach that is open to changes and innovations required by time. It was found that traditional methods are not suitable for increasing competition conditions and synchronized work management between units, companies planning long-term road maps have opened their doors to new methods. One of the most effective methods is Quality Function Deployment (QFD). QFD method is a methodology based on customer needs and demands which can be used in engineering studies that provide new product design, new services, existing product development and process management. When the experience and opinion of the customer are also taken into consideration, Quality Function Deployment provides a more solution-oriented approach by listening to the voice of customer and clarifying the uncertainties in the search of the companies. In my thesis, the usability of quality function deployment technique in product development/process improvement stages of a leading company providing shading systems/outdoor living solutions in the construction sector was evaluated and improvements in design, planning, production, delivery, and feedback process were discussed. This study aims to contribute to the literature on quality function deployment which is limited and to the construction/shading systems sector. Keywords: Product Development, Quality Function Deployment, Shading Systems, Pergola.
