In this study, John Webster?s The Duchess of Malfi, Thomas Middleton and Thomas Dekker?s The Roaring Girl, and William Shakespeare?s All?s Well That Ends Well will be examined in detail focusing on the rebirth of the female protagonists in the Renaissance drama in the light of Anglo-American feminist criticism. The four leading Anglo-American feminist critics, whose illuminating theories are adopted in this study, criticise male-dominated societies and their systematised oppression of women. What?s more, they shed light on the origin of the patriarchy and its domineering and restrictive attitudes towards women. Consequently, these Anglo-American feminists insistently emphasise the necessity of the challenging, self-confident, and autonomous attitutes of women and support their struggle against patriarchal societies. In the Renaissance period, the society was patriarchal, so woman was expected to live under the dominance of man in a passive, silent, and obedient way. The male characters in the three plays discussed in this study, also have the same expectations as a result of the male-dominated society in the background. However, the female protagonists of these plays challenge the authority of male characters and do not yield their oppressive and threatening attitudes. As a result, these female protagonists amaze all male characters by their defiant, assertive, willful, and self-reliant attitudes and demonstrate that they have a rebirth in the Renaissance drama.

Bu çalışmada John Webster'ın The Duchess of Malfi, Thomas Middleton ve Thomas Dekker'ın The Roaring Girl ve William Shakespeare'in All's Well That Ends Well adlı eserleri Rönesans dramasında temel kadın karakterlerin yeniden doğuşu açısından Anglo-Amerikan feminist eleştiri ışığında analiz edilmiştir.
